New Rainy Day Gardening Post (at long last!)

February 22, 2010

Finally got back into the game at Rainy Day Gardening, a blog I allegedly cowrite with my friend Janet, the brilliant gardener to my rookie black-thumb.   I haven’t posted in forever — long story — but when I saw this National Geographic article today about carnivorous plants, I had to share it.  Check it out, it’s cool beyond amazingness:

New Rainy Day Gardening Post!

February 16, 2009

rosebudWhat are you supposed to be doing in February if you live in the Pacific Northwest?  Here’s a hint:  it’s not spending the first truly sunny and glorious weekend watching really tremendously bad movies like I’ve been doing (in my defense, I’m out of commission due to a shoulder injury).

Prune!  Trim!  Put lime on stuff!  And read this post on the Rainy Day Gardening blog!

At Long Last: New Rainy Day Gardening Post!

January 23, 2009

rakestakeI finally wrote something on the Rainy Day Gardening blog that I theoretically co-write with the awesome Janet.  I say “theoretically” because it’s been about 87 years since my last post (you know, give or take).    I’m surprised I didn’t get canned, frankly.

Thanks, Janet!  I promise not to suck so much this year!

Go read the post:  Hits and Misses and Mosses.

Lettuce Rest, I’m Feeling Beet — New Rainy Day Gardening Post.

June 28, 2008

Just put up a new post at the Rainy Day Gardening blog, in which I call my lettuce a “stupidhead,” pick up my ball, and storm home.

April 19, 2008

One more weekend like this one and we’re renaming the blog “Snowy Day Gardening.” Or maybe just, “Bloody Hell, I Give Up.”

Rainy Day Gardening — Spring in Photos!

April 13, 2008

Got a new post up at Rainy Day Gardening — it’s a little “photo essay” about some of my favorite signs of spring.  Check it out and be sure to share any of your favorite spring things in the comments (of that blog, not this one!)!

This photo, for those that don’t know, is of a fern before it unfurls itself.  I love how weird and alien they look at this stage — it’s such a contrast to how delicate and pretty they are later!

Rainy Day Gardening: Seed Shopping!

February 29, 2008

Gotta new post up at the Rainy Day Gardening blog, this time about my first experience with buying seeds online and my planned choice for the “Growing Challenge” this year (in which gardeners pick an edible they’ve never grown before, start it from seed, and then blog weekly about how it’s going).  I also talk about my love of Cosmos and my struggles with growing it in Seattle — that’s the flower you see in the background of this photo of my gorgeous twin sister and her adorable son, by the way.  If you have any comments about the post, be sure to post them on that blog and not this one so other gardeners will see them!

Enjoy!
