New Boyfriend is Up!

Check out the new Boyfriend of the Week write-up:

I almost went with someone old and bald, but I thought maybe this year for the holidays, I’d give you a guy with a fantastically lickable jaw.  AND BOY, DID I.

Don’t forget to come back here for comments.  You know the drill!  Have a safe and happy holiday season and I’ll be back in a day or two to tell you all about the movie Avatar.

I recommend renting season 2 of Damages. (while I think season 1 was better, season 2 has your boyfriend…). It’s available on Netflix!

  2. megwood Says:

Get out, he was in Damages? Where the heck have I been?

Thanks, Nicole! I’ll check it out!

  3. Ashleigh Says:

I have been half in love with him since he was in Rockstar with Mr Mark Walberg and and episode of SatC “In the land of twentysomething guys”.. or something close to it. I can’t remember which came first, but I have been hooked ever sonce. I will watch something just because he is in it. and I loved Catch and Release too. I have watched it a few times now and I still cry.

  4. megwood Says:

Awww, I love that you cry, Ashleigh!! Now I feel less dorky. 🙂

  5. Ashleigh Says:

I have been in the military for almost 19 years… Been to war… play ice hockey… and that movie makes me cry the same way seeing Buffy chase after that helicopter knowing she isn’t going to catch it and tell Riley that she does love him and that she was just scared to let him in and to love him back. Yep. Everytime.

  6. megwood Says:

Oh god! I cried at the helicopter scene too!! Oh, you’re my new best friend today, Ashleigh. Seriously. We should hang out and cry at movies together.

  7. Ashleigh Says:

Oh – and Avatar was awesome… that Sam Worthington… OMG nomnomnom

It is always sniff sniff – oh shadup already and let me cry – sniff sniff

  8. Alisa Says:

The only thing I have to say is, I liked Dreamcatcher. :)=

  9. megwood Says:

HA HA!! Of course you did, Alisa! The world would be all upside-down if you didn’t. 🙂

  10. Lorraine Says:

Meg, I’m totally with you on this choice. And this is based on just seeing him “Catch and Release”.

Yeah, I liked him in “Deadwood” but I couldn’t get into that show and only watched a few episodes. But his low-key charm in “Catch and Release” won me over. It’s difficult to explain what makes a good romcom but somehow that movie had it.

But I wish he was in more stuff that I wanted to watch. Don’t think that I knew he was in “Stop-Loss”. I’ve been avoiding that, just looked too melodramatic. But the combo of him and Joseph Gordon Levitt tips me over the edge. On that subject, just saw JGL in “Manic” and the guy’s talent still astonishes me. It’s an odd movie of teens in a psych ward but I recommend it. It also stars Don Cheadle and Zooey Dechanel.

  11. Liz Says:

I’ve known this guy by name for quite a while, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him in some things. However, I have to admit that I don’t seem to be very familiar with him. He and many of his projects do sound intriguing to me.

    A few little points:
    1) In your photo of him on the right-hand side, I think he looks a lot like Michael Weatherly; what do you think?
    2) What’s with you and finding facial areas to be so lickable? First we have Nathan Fillion’s nose, and now we have Timothy Oliphant’s jawline! Well, one of my kitties now routinely licks my eyes in the morning; does that count?
    3) Check out the italicized word you used to describe “lickable.”
    4) Dummy that I am, I thought he was in “Psych” – it’s Timothy Olemund, or something (so sue me – the last name starts with “O!”)
    5) Although I too was very disappointed in (and confused by) “Dreamcatcher,” it did introduce me to Damien Lewis, who I thought was brilliant! So I’m grateful to the silly movie for that.
    6) I kinda thought Buffy needed to lose Riley – I was still rooting for Angel at that point … until I got “wooed away” by Alex O’Loughlin’s Mick St. John!

Looking forward to your “Top 10’s.”

  12. Meg Says:

Damn it! An infernal typo! Nice work catching that, Liz — you’re hired! (You work for free, right?) I’m about to get on an airplane so I can’t fix it, which will ruin my whole night, balls. To everyone, I DO, in fact, know how to spell. I swear, I swear. ARGH!

    All other points, amen.

  13. Alisa Says:

You’re a librarian woman! Don’t they have a dictionary where you work???? LMAO 🙂

  14. Liz Says:

Don’t tease Poor Little Meg!! 🙂 She does a great job with all these write-ups, as we all can attest (since we all keep reading them!). I was wrong to make editorial comments on this page, and she was very gracious in her response! What’s a typo, among friends?

  15. Leslie Says:

If you wish to continue to enjoy Olyphant, I suggest you not watch Kevin Smith’s latest one-man show in which he talks about behind-the-scenes *Catch and Release.* Watch *Go* instead for some 1999 Olyphant. With Taye Diggs. And William Fichtner. And Scott Wolf and Breckin Meyer. Plus some women.

  16. Richard Harland Smith Says:

When I lived in West Hollywood, I saw Tim Olyphant a couple of times in my local convenience store. I knew him kinda sorta back then, knew who he was, even though I’d never watched Deatwood and still haven’t. He wormed his way into my heart by doing the sports news on the sadly-defunct Indie 103.1, where he would literally just pick up the newspaper when DJ Joe Escalante called him and read whatever story crossed his path. Sometimes you could hear his kids bugging him, and sometimes he would call in from a location where he was shooting. It was a blast but of course in this day and age of corporate-molded mediocrity, the parent company pulled the plug on the show. Timothy Olyphant lives now… only in my memories.

  17. megwood Says:

Oh, I love that story, Richard. Man, wonder if you can find recordings of his 103.1 stuff on the web? I may have to investigate this.

  18. Cheryl Says:

OMG, I was watching Justified this weekend and wow, the man can wear a hat like nobody’s business, I definitely have to watch some of the other ones you recommended.
Keep finding these treats for us.

  19. Vicki Says:

This a great appreciation of TO. I first noticed him with “Catch and Release,” which now years later, has got me watching “Deadwood,” and more recently, “Justified.” He really has a great charm, depth, style, with an edge that deserves more attention. Did you watch him on Tavis Smiley a week or two back?

  20. jackrusselldog Says:

Ok, I think you need to recalculate his MacGyver score since Justified started. He’s so damn hot in that show! With southern drawl and cowboy hat, plus he’s a pretty snazzy dresser, he makes me melt into a puddle of water every time I watch that show. Ohhhhh, and his eyes. I love his eyes. Come on. I think you should have a little side column where you catch up with some of the BotW and see what they’ve done since you first looked at them!!!! And start with Timothy Olyphant!!!
