MOVIE: Suspicion (1941)

If there’s only one thing you take away from this delightful Hitchcock thriller, it should be this:  Never marry a man who calls you “monkey-face.”

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here! This is the War Room!

  2. Liz Says:

Hah! I knew it! That’s the 2nd time you’ve used that quote, Trip, so I looked it up on IMDb, and, as I had suspected, it IS from “Dr. Strangelove.” Okay, so I cheated – but I couldn’t stand not knowing any more. Of course, quoting without “cheating” is always preferable… BTW, you can find a movie just by searching a quote on IMDb; I’ve done that, too!

  3. Trip Says:

I had a feeling it might have been one I used before, but I make no apologies; it’s one of my favorites. And let’s not even get started about our precious bodily fluids!

  4. Liz Says:

OKAY! I just added “Dr. Strangelove” to my Netflix queue! AND my next movie will be “The Hitchhiker’s Guide…”, which I have also just read! For my next trick, I may have to see “The Princess Bride” again!

Don’t forget your towel, you hoopy frood! (Was that your first reading of Hitchhiker’s, Liz? I was an ENORMOUS geeky Douglas Adams fan in high school!) The movie is pretty fun too — Sam Rockwell! But the BBC radio series is the best adaptation I’ve heard. If you can find that online anywhere, definitely check it out. I used to listen to it every morning before school (on cassette tape!) and still have huge chunks of it memorized to this day!

Liz – You may have to watch Princess Bride again. I’ve seen it so many times that I can recite most of the movie by heart. LOL I’ve read the book so many times the binding fell off and I had to buy a new one.

  7. megwood Says:

The Princess Bride is one of the most delightfully quotable movies ever made. My family has entire conversations that primarily consist of PB quotes.

    *I* am not left-handed.

Btw, Liz, just gave you a shout-out in the “Cast” section of my Halloween II write-up. Your IMDb skillz are mad. MAD, I tell you!

  8. Trip Says:

It’s inconceivable that you all would bring up The Princess Bride without once using this word.

    BTW, Moon rocked.

  9. megwood Says:

Glad you liked Moon, Trip! Best sci-fi I’ve seen this year, definitely.

  10. Liz Says:

“Moon” is on my Netflix “Saved Queue.” I am inordinately proud of myself, not only for getting the shout-out on Meg’s review of “Halloween II” (I KNEW that bit of trivia would interest you!), but also for being told I had mad IMDb skillz! How did any of us survive before IMDb?

  11. Trip Says:

    Premiere magazine and microfiche?

  12. Liz Says:

Hey! I just found “Premiere.com” online! Now I have to check that out too! BTW, Trip, to what word are you referring in “Princess Bride?”
